在非正式場合的口語中，特別是年輕人喜歡用這些話來搪塞他們的家長：

1Dunno

(“布吉島”，不知道)

例：“When do you have to submit this essay?”

“Dunno. I can’t remember.”

如果你手頭沒有任何信息或者你猜不透問題的答案，就這么說：

2 I have no idea.

(我沒頭緒，我不清楚)

例：“What time does the film start?”

“I have no idea. Why don’t you call the cinema?”

有時候，我們難免遇到一些很煩人的問題或提問者，如果你對這些感到厭煩，就可以這樣說話，顯示你已經沒耐心了：

例：How will the situation develop from here? It's anyone’s guess.

如果別人問你某件事，而你也恰好對這件事知之甚少，或許抱有同樣的疑問，就可以說：

(我和你一樣不知道，簡單說就是我也不知道)

例：“Do you think we will be able to book the restaurant for Friday?”

“Your guess is as good as mine.”

有時，問題的答案或許是所想的那樣，但是你又沒有足夠的依據和信息來判斷是否如此，就可以說：
